| About Don Shannon... |
|
For more than four decades, Pipe Major Don Shannon's musical mastery of the Scottish pipes has been stirring the souls of listeners on both sides of the Atlantic. A native of Northern Ireland, Don served as Pipe Major of an award winning band participating in international competitions throughout Scotland, England, Ireland and Northern Ireland, including numerous appearances at the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association World Championships. Don has performed for such notable members of the British Royal Family as Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew as well as the former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Tony Blair. Since moving to America, Don has toured with The Chieftains, Ireland's premier musical ambassadors, and performs with them each year when they return to Dallas/Fort Worth. In addition to piping for President George W. Bush and English rocker Rod Stewart, Don has also appeared with Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson on ABC-TV's Good Morning America. Don continues to perform annually at the nationally televised Byron Nelson Golf Classic. Don now resides in Dallas with his Texas born wife, artist Patricia Shannon. He serves as the Pipe Major for The North Texas Calendonian Pipes and Drums playing prestigious venues including Bass Performance and The Meyerson Symphony Center.
